Every Moment is a Memory
What size is the right size?
When choosing what size tube you need there are a few things to keep in mind. How large is the room? Will i be using this room for atmoshpere lighting or do i want light to read or work by. Here is a list of what i would call "rule of thumb".
The 10" Sun Glo Tubular Skylight is great for small rooms 12x12 or smaller. Typically they are installed in hallways, bathrooms, laundry rooms, closets, and pantries.
The 14" Sun Glo Tubular Skylight is great for mid size rooms 16x16. Typically they are installed in kitchens, dining rooms, and living rooms.
The 18" Sun Glo Tubular Skylight is perfect for large rooms 18x18 that have atleast a 9' ceiling.
Best placement is always center of the room but what if that cant be done because of lighting or ceiling fans in the way?
You can put two smaller tubes on either side of the ceiling fan or you can remove the light or ceiling fan and put a light kit in the tube.
Try to keep the tube atleast a couple feet from the fan so that you dont get any strobbing caused by the fan blades.
How do i know how much tubing i will need?
To find the total length of tubing, you will need to go into the attic and measure.
Find the location where you will be installing the tube.
Measure from the sheetrock to the roof sheating and add one foot.
This will be the total length of tubing needed.
